Bell Microproducts and Its Employees Donate Over $114,000 to
Haiti Relief Efforts
GlobeNewswire 2010-03-09
SAN JOSE, Calif., March 9, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Bell Microproducts
Inc. (Nasdaq:BELM), one of the world's largest value-added distributors
of storage and computing technology, today announced that employees of
the company have donated over $57,000 to assist the Haitian
humanitarian relief efforts. The company matched employee donations for
a total donation of over $114,000. Soon after the earthquake occurred
in Haiti, employees of the company worldwide began contributing to help
the victims. The company announced in January that it would match
employee donations and offered to provide payroll deductions for
donations. Employees donated cash through one-time payments, payroll
deductions and by converting accrued vacation into cash that could be
donated.
"The generosity of the Bell Micro employees was again demonstrated,"
said Don Bell, president and chief executive officer of the company.
"Our employees have always come through to help others, whether it is
their fellow employees or people in other parts of the world that need
help." Bell continued by saying that just several months ago, Bell
Microproducts employees supported the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's
Light The Night Campaign and raised over $45,000. "I am extremely proud
of our employees," said Bell.
The donations to the Haiti relief efforts were made through the Red
Cross.
