First 'Virtual Footwear Wall' Experience Launched in London
ROCK HILL, S.C., Nov. 16, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- 3D Systems Corporation
(NYSE:DDD) announced today that its Freedom of Creation ("FOC"), design
team was chosen by adidas to collaborate on the creation of the world's
first Virtual Footwear Wall ("VFW") for the new adiZero F50 miCoach
football boots, at their flagship store on London's Oxford Street.
The adidas VFW uses FOC(TM) designed 3D content that delivers immersive
and interactive user experience powered by state of the art touch
screen technology from Intel. With VFW, consumers can rotate their
selected football cleat, zoom in and view it in detailed images and
videos as they select their personalized footwear from a virtual store
shelf.
Chris Aubrey, VP Global Retail Marketing at adidas, said "Until now,
limited retail space has restricted customers' in-store choices, but
the Virtual Footwear Wall has been designed to give our customers more
choice at all of our stores -- however big or small." adidas plans to
roll the technology out in its stores globally next year.
"Our work with adidas underscores the power of our 3D content-to-print
solutions to unleash a unique shopping connection between the consumer
and their brand," stated Janne Kyttanen, Creative Director, 3D Systems
FOC Team. "We are very excited to be a part of this disruptive
transformation of the retail experience."
