|Adelaide Company, Enabled, Hand-Picked by RIM to Develop for the BlackBerry PlayBook
Adelaide, Australia, June 21, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Adelaide digital media company, Enabled Solutions, are one of the few firms in Australia approached by RIM to develop apps for the BlackBerry PlayBook, which was released in Australia on 20 June.
RIM, the creators of BlackBerry and PlayBook, have been approaching high calibre content owners and developers and encouraging them to develop applications for the PlayBook, in order to accrue quality apps for the new platform. “It is a huge honour to be one of the few firms hand-picked by RIM to develop for their coveted new tablet,” said Grant Hull, Director of Enabled.
The privilege also allowed Enabled to be one of the first developers in Australia to have access to the PlayBook. Grant explained, “We were sent a pre-release unit at the end of March so we could familiarise ourselves with it before beginning development.”
Enabled are a cross-platform digital media company and one of the most prolific iPhone and iPad developers in Australia. They were one of the first companies to tackle iPhone apps, had an iPad before they were released in Australia, and are now one of the first to develop apps for the PlayBook. “We pride ourselves on being leaders in touch development,” said Grant, “but not just leaders in uptake, we also strive to lead the way in quality and innovation.”
Though its name might suggest it’s all fun and games, the PlayBook is being touted as the world’s first professional-grade tablet, and Grant believes Enabled are well-positioned to develop both professional and entertainment applications. “We have developed touch apps that change the way companies do business, apps that educate, and of course, apps that entertain.”
When asked about apps for the PlayBook itself, Grant said, “We will be releasing a few apps early to help demonstrate the device’s capabilities. One we have already released is a PlayBook version of the ever-popular Newton’s Cradle. The iPhone version attracted over 4 million downloads, and the Playbook version has already proved a success in the US, where the PlayBook has been available for several months. We have also been asked to develop several global brand titles which will be exclusively available on the PlayBook.”
