Seagate Technology has appointed BanSeng Teh, vice president and managing director, to lead the company's Asia Pacific Sales and Marketing organization, in a move to further strengthen and expand its presence in the region.
Prior to assuming this role, Teh was based in Seagate's corporate headquarters in Scotts Valley, USA, heading up the global sales operations, revenue planning, pricing and customer service group.
Based in Singapore and reporting to Todd Abbott, Seagate executive vice president of Global Sales, Marketing and Customer Service, Teh's responsibilities now include the following:
- Drive the financial performance and success of the Asia Pacific sales and marketing organization by growing revenue and market share across Seagate's Enterprise, Desktop, Notebook, Consumer Electronics and Branded Solutions market segments.
- Develop new markets and revenue streams by providing high-level support and strengthening relationships with strategic customers in the region.
- Oversee the regional OEM and distribution channel sales functions to ensure continuous improvement and development within the sales organization as well as alignment with the company's various business units.
- Drive distribution channel and segment marketing activities implementing Seagate's marketing processes and tools; as well as oversee all functions relating to pre-sales and technical support, customer logistics and warranties to ensure best-in-class customer service.
"In a market that accounts for over 40% of Seagate's overall revenue, Teh's wealth of experience and knowledge of the Asia Pacific region makes him an ideal candidate for this critical leadership position," said Abbott. "I believe Seagate is well-positioned to achieve even greater success as a leading customer-driven storage solutions provider, by strengthening our strategic relationships with customers and partners in Asia Pacific in order to both develop new markets and grow existing markets."
Teh joined Seagate in 1992 as the company's sales manager responsible for ASEAN and the Indian sub-continent. Since then, he has had a number of senior leadership roles in the company, where he has played a vital role in expanding Seagate's presence in the HDD industry. Teh also contributed significantly to growing the company's regional business by developing a highly successful distribution network and establishing key OEM and ODM relationships throughout Asia.
