Rapid Growth in MDU Fiber Deployment Requires Expanded
Product Offerings
MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 18, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Clearfield, Inc.
(Nasdaq:CLFD), the specialist in fiber management and connectivity
platforms for communications providers, today announced expanded
product offerings within its line of FieldSmart Fiber Delivery Point
(FDP) access network solutions. The FieldSmart FDP Outdoor 48-Port Wall
Mount Panel bridges the gap between large scale OSP deployments
requiring a traditional outside plant cabinet, housing 288 to 1152
ports, and the small-scale wall mount panel solutions that support only
a small number of users. Supporting up to four Clearview Cassettes, the
new FieldSmart FDP Wall Mount scales up to 48 users, providing full
fiber protection and scalability when access to the inside structure is
inaccessible.
"While always beneficial to have access to the inside plant, it is not
always possible," comments Johnny Hill, Chief Operating Officer for
Clearfield. "The rapid proliferation of fiber in the OSP and the
diversity of applications require the development of products that
offer a high degree of configurability. The FieldSmart FDP Wall Mount
mimics the functionality of a mini-hub providing a variety of
distribution applications from straight interconnect to optical
components. This new Wall Mount is optimal as a demarcation deployment
device for the side of MDU, office park, or cell tower."
The FieldSmart FDP Wall Mount is designed for the harsh environmental
conditions of the outside plant. For ease of integration, the FDP Wall
Mount ships with a field-deployed "knock-out" that allows for conduit
entry while maintaining Nema 4 performance. A swinging bulkhead
supports and protects sub-unit slack storage.
With Clearfield's Clearview Cassette at its heart, the FieldSmart FDP
Wall Mount provides service providers with plug and play integration
based upon the configuration requirements of the application. The FDP
Wall Mount supports all cable construction types for both patch only
and patch & splice deployments. All industry standard connector styles
are available.
About the Clearview Cassette
The Clearview Cassette is the building block of every FieldSmart
product, including the full line of central office panels and frames
within the FieldSmart Fiber Distribution System (FDS) as well as the
Fiber Scalability Center (FSC) line of PON and cross-connect cabinets.
The Clearview Cassette ensures that all the basic principles of fiber
management are satisfied without exposure to environmental hazards or
human interaction. Integrated cassette components fully nest into the
cassette main housing to support any application or fiber type desired.
Within the cassette, all fibers from the sub-assembly are slack stored,
bend radius protected, and secured against accidental physical damage
from handling. Designed to handle the toughest operating environments,
the Clearview Cassette provides flexibility and reliable performance in
the central office and in the field.
The Clearview Cassette utilizes a clear outer housing allowing for
quick and easy first-step troubleshooting of unacceptable light
conditions. Tool-less snap-together nesting covers and a removable
12-pack adapter plate allow for easy access to terminated sub
assemblies for maintenance and cleaning.
