GlobeNewswire

XpandR SoC Enables Operators to Offer an Improved User
                      Experience in the Home

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 6, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DSP Group(R), Inc.
(Nasdaq:DSPG), a leading global provider of wireless chipset solutions
for converged communications at home, announced today that its
XpandR(R) multimedia chipset solution is powering a newly released
multimedia cordless handset offered by Deutsche Telekom, one of the
world's leading integrated telecommunications companies. Part of
Deutsche Telekom's new line of innovative cordless handsets, the
Speedphone 700 is a fixed-line hybrid smartphone supporting voice via
DECT/CAT-iq and data applications via Wi-Fi. Running the Android(R)
operating system, the feature-rich Speedphone 700 significantly
improves the user experience at home by enabling myriad multimedia
applications, and delivering high-definition (HD) voice that far
surpasses traditional telephony alternatives.

The Speedphone 700 is a user-friendly phone equipped with a 3.2" touch
screen and an icon-grid user interface with a notification screen.
Supporting DECT and CAT-iq 2.0 cordless technology, the Speedphone 700
offers "true-to-life" sound quality under the most challenging
conditions, including one-way and simultaneous speech, noisy
environments, and signal delay presence. Supporting Wi-Fi, the phone
offers an array of multimedia applications including RSS feeds, email
notification, SMS reading, and central phonebook access.

The world's only system-on-a-chip (SoC) solution supporting both Wi-Fi
and DECT, XpandR powers cordless communications and a full spectrum of
multimedia applications for the home phone. The comprehensive solution
includes an integrated multimedia and DECT baseband processor, an
analog front end, a full set of RF chips, a software package, and an
array of multimedia peripherals. Utilized for full system
implementation, XpandR supports multimedia streaming, web browsing,
communications services, and voice applications, enabling CE
manufacturers to develop innovative, cost-effective home multimedia
products with fast time to market.

"DSP Group's innovative system on a chip enables us to provide a
significantly improved user experience in the home via diverse
multimedia applications such as Internet connectivity, network-centric
address book access, and email notification, as well as HD voice
quality," said Ulrich Grote, Vice President Fixedline Terminals of
Deutsche Telekom. "By incorporating DECT, Wi-Fi connectivity, an
application processor, and a touch screen, the home phone is quickly
evolving as a smart device. We are pleased to be able to receive all of
this and more from a single chipset supplier."

"Deutsche Telekom is clearly leading the way in multimedia home phones
that improve user experience and enhance consumer value," said Oz
Zimerman, Corporate VP of Marketing and Business Development at DSP
Group. "We are proud that our XpandR system-on-a-chip solution, which
powers diverse multimedia devices like the Speedphone 700, is enabling
Deutsche Telekom to be a frontrunner in bringing connected multimedia
terminals to the home."
