2008-05-12

EMC Corp. announced that Alok Ohrie will succeed Manoj Chugh as the President of EMC India and SAARC Region. Manoj Chugh has been promoted to lead the Global Accounts Practice for EMC in Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ).

Ohrie, a 20-year IT industry veteran in India, joins EMC from AMD where he was the Vice President and Managing Director for AMD's India operations.

Prior to joining AMD, Ohrie spent 13 years with IBM Global Services India in a number of executive management positions, including Director of the Systems and Technology Group for India and South Asia. During the early part of his career, Ohrie worked at Wipro Infotech and ESPL Ltd.

"India is an important and strategic market where EMC has announced more than $500 million in investments, and Bangalore is home to one of our two Centers of Excellence located in Asia Pacific and Japan," said Ron Goh, President, EMC South Asia. "I'm pleased to announce someone of Alok's caliber as our new leader for India. Alok's extensive technology and leadership experience will continue to position India as both a source of innovation and revenue growth for EMC."

Ohrie will lead EMC's India and SAARC sales and service organizations with responsibility for the region's total revenue, its current and future customers, and EMC's various partners. Ohrie will work closely with Sarv Saravanan, who is responsible for EMC's Center of Excellence based in Bangalore, to expand EMC's products and services capabilities in India.

"Now is an exciting time to join EMC in India," said Alok Ohrie. "The EMC information infrastructure value proposition for India customers and partners in the enterprise and commercial markets has never been stronger, and I look forward to building upon the strong foundation established by EMC under the leadership of Manoj Chugh."

"I'm also pleased to announce Manoj Chugh's promotion to Director for Global Account in Asia Pacific and Japan. Manoj's appointment is a testament to his success in leading EMC's operations in India and SAARC over the past five years," said Goh.

"I am proud of how EMC has led and transformed the information storage and management market in India over the past five years," said Manoj Chugh, Director of Global Accounts, APJ. "The EMC India team established clear market and technology leadership by helping our customers leverage their information for competitive advantage. I wish Alok every success in his new role and look forward to working closely with EMC's largest customers throughout the APJ region."
