Eastern Software Systems Pvt. Ltd. (ESS), a provider of IT products and services, announced that it has received a contract from South Africa-based FM Media to develop a comprehensive social networking site named Flavafrika on the lines of Facebook, Orkut and MySpace.
Anil Bakht, Managing Director, Eastern Software Systems, said, "Social networking is the 'in thing' on the net today with many sites attracting million of users from across the world. Africa, like the rest of the world, has not remained untouched by this revolutionary concept. African people are increasingly feeling an urgent need for such a niche site for themselves wherein they can connect to each other more effectively."
"We're proud to have been entrusted with this exciting task and are confident that it will be an excellent showcase of our capabilities in this domain," added Bakht.
Targeted towards the African population across the world, Flavarika will aim to bring the African people closer to each other by encouraging them to communicate amongst themselves and also with their relatives and acquaintances worldwide through blogs, forums, chat, instant messaging amongst many other features. Flavarika will also showcase the M.A.D.E. [Music, Arts, Dance and Edutainment] cultures of the African community.
The brainchild of a group of four enterprising visionaries of FM Media based in South Africa, Flavafrika will be a platform which not only connects Africans through M.A.D.E., but also provides a platform for everyone to showcase their talent. Flava (pronounced to rhyme with Flavor), also satiates their need for quality edutainment. ESS said it fully comprehends the aspirations behind this ambitious project and is working rapidly to fulfill the same.
The company said this contract from FM Media further reemphasizes its position in the customized Web solutions domain. FM Media evaluated several proposals including those from the large-sized Web solution providers and selected ESS as the preferred service provider after a careful scrutiny of its capabilities, track record and delivery capabilities.
ESS said its strong presence in the African market also strengthened its case as the company has recently received multiple contracts from various government agencies in Africa to deploy ERP solutions and also for customized Web applications.
