2007-06-26

Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories Inc., an Alcatel-Lucent company, has announced a number of management appointments for its Asia Pacific region, including that of Michael McBrien as its new senior vice president for Asia Pacific.

McBrien will be responsible for the company's overall business across the region, including management of the sales organization across Australasia, China, India, Korea and ASEAN, as well as overseeing the channel, professional services and field operations.

"Michael's broad expertise in voice self-service and multi-channel contact centers, along with a passion for helping companies realize the business impact of customer service makes him a perfect fit for this role," said Wes Hayden, President and CEO, Genesys. "Our business in Asia Pacific has experienced strong growth over the years, as well as providing some of the company's most innovative customer implementations. Michael's experience and strong leadership will help us continue our success, as well as the success of our customers in the region."

McBrien joins the Genesys Asia Pacfic region following recent management roles in the U.S., helping Genesys build its voice self service business in the Americas, while contributing to this key strategic area for the company worldwide. His experience spans contact centers and CRM, voice XML and speech applications, Web services and SMS communications.

"I am very excited to enter into this new role and further develop the Genesys business footprint across Asia Pacific," said Michael McBrien, senior vice president, Asia Pacific. "The Asia Pacific region is truly embracing the global trend of customer service, and I look forward to working with companies from across the region to advance their contact centers and improve the level of service they deliver to their customers."

McBrien joined Genesys in the U.S. in March of 2003 as sales director for the Genesys Voice Platform (GVP) team. In the past year, Michael served as vice president of the Genesys Voice Applications Solutions Team in the Americas. Prior to joining Genesys, McBrien held sales and management roles at companies including Tuvox, Edify and Intervoice.

Genesys has also appointed KC Hong as its new managing director of Genesys in ASEAN. KC will oversee the company's operations across the region, including sales. Hong brings with him 20 years of technology and marketing experience and has held management positions at companies including NCR, Sun Microsystems, Informix and IBM.

In related news, Genesys named Jason Stirling as vice president for Australasia. Previously serving as managing director for the region, Stirling was a founding member of Genesys in Australia more than nine years ago, and has since helped build the business into its market leading position today, holding a variety of sales and management roles.
