HCL's Ajai Chowdhry Named Chairman BoG, IIT - Hyderabad

HCL Infosystems Ltd. announced that Ajai Chowdhry, its Founder Chairman and CEO, has been nominated by the President of India to be the Chairman of the Board of Governors, IIT Hyderabad.
"It is indeed a matter of immense pride and privilege to be associated with this esteemed knowledge body and I look forward to furthering IIT Hyderabad's objectives of setting new standards in engineering practice in India contribute actively to growth of India in the decades to come," said Ajai Chowdhry.
Prof. U. B. Desai, Director, IIT Hyderabad, said, "We are very privileged and enthused that Ajai Chowdhry has been appointed as Chairman BoG for IIT Hyderabad in its formative years. His vision will add new and challenging dimensions to IIT. I am confident that under his Chairmanship IIT Hyderabad will become a world class institute."
An engineer by training, Chowdhry is one of the six founder members of HCL. Over the years, he has championed the cause of improving PC penetration in the country and actively contributes to shaping of the country's IT strategy.
Chowdhry is currently the Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII) National Committee on Technology and innovation, besides being a part of the IT Hardware Task Force set up by the Prime Minister of India.
Chowdhry also has Chaired CII's National Committee for IT, ITES and E-Commerce, where he actively encouraged the deployment of IT in Indian SMEs to increase their productivity and to make them globally competitive.
