IDC: IBM Leads India's Apps Development & Deployment Software Mkt

IBM announced that as per IDC's India Annual Packaged Software Market Report 2008, the company has maintained the lead in the India Application Development and Application Deployment Software market with a 30.5% share in revenue terms during calendar year 2008 (Jan-Dec 2008).
The report also said that IBM stood as the leader in the India Quality and Life Cycle Tools market during 2008.
Key highlights of IDC's report:
- IBM maintained the No. 1 position in the India Application Development Software market with a 33.4% share in revenue terms during 2008.
- IBM led the India Application Deployment Software market with a 27.3% share in revenue terms during 2008.
- IBM emerged as the leader in the India Quality and Life Cycle Tools market with a substantial share of 57.9% in revenue terms during 2008, gaining 4.8 points market share from 2007.
"The leadership ranking by IDC re-affirms our Application Development and Application Deployment portfolio as a robust, integration intensive and flexible set of software solutions for the entire Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC). IBM has recently unveiled a new software platform and related services under its Rational suite of solutions, which will provide a fully integrated software delivery platform that addresses requirements, design, development and management across electrical, mechanical and software technologies and help organizations derive the greatest value from the products they deliver.
