TracPhone V3 Hardware Will be Included for Customers Choosing
This Special 3-Year mini-VSAT Broadband Package, Making it
Even More Affordable to Bring a New Class of Global Maritime
Communications Service Onboard
MIDDLETOWN, R.I., Oct. 13, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- To celebrate the
completion of its new global satellite communications network, KVH
Industries, Inc., (Nasdaq:KVHI) today announced a special "Get More for
Less!" bundle promotion that offers new mini-VSAT Broadband(SM)
customers a TracPhone(R) V3 maritime satellite communications system (a
$16,995 value) and a 3-year M1000 mini-VSAT Broadband airtime contract,
which includes a monthly allotment of 1,000 megabytes of broadband data
and offers download speeds up to 2 Mbps, all for only $999 per month.
This limited time promotion lasts until December 31, 2011.* The
TracPhone V3 is the world's smallest maritime VSAT solution, featuring
a 14.5-inch diameter antenna, below-decks antenna control unit, and
integrated ArcLight(R) spread spectrum modem, making it a complete
solution for onboard communications and Internet access for boats as
small as 30 feet!
KVH's mini-VSAT Broadband airtime pricing terms make the offer even
more attractive, as subscribers who exceed the amount of data allotted
for their plan simply pay $0.99 per megabyte for the additional data
use. The mini-VSAT Broadband service also provides exceptionally clear
voice calls using Voice over IP (VoIP) technology. Voice calls are
billed at just $0.49 per minute to and from cell phones and land lines
worldwide, including all long distance charges. Best of all, while
phone companies often charge high tariffs to call Inmarsat satellite
phones (calls from shore to the ship), a hidden cost that can be as
high as $10 per minute, the TracPhone V3 allows you to have a normal
local number which is billed at the local call rate.
"I am very excited to offer our customers this complete and compelling
package, which includes the TracPhone V3 hardware and a significant
amount of monthly broadband data that can be transmitted at speeds up
to 2 Mbps virtually anywhere in the world, all for less than $1,000 per
month," remarked Brent C. Bruun, KVH's senior vice president of global
sales and business development. "With this offer, as with all of KVH's
mini-VSAT Broadband airtime plans, subscribers enjoy airtime fees that
are approximately 1/10th of what they would pay for similar Inmarsat
FleetBroadband packages, and with this promotion, we're even including
the hardware when customers sign up for a 36-month contract. By acting
on this offer, any mariner spending $1,000 per month or more on
satellite communications can immediately upgrade their onboard service
and significantly increase their vessels' available bandwidth without
adding to their current budget."
Announced in February 2011, KVH's TracPhone V3 is the world's smallest
maritime VSAT solution, with an antenna measuring only 14.5 inches in
diameter. Thanks to revolutionary ArcLight spread spectrum transmission
technology invented by KVH's technology partner, ViaSat (Nasdaq:VSAT),
the mini-VSAT Broadband network provides reliable, global service to a
wide range of vessels using extremely compact antennas. KVH and ViaSat
are responsible for the seamless, global service, which is delivered
using 14 Ku-band satellite transponders linked via 11 secure earth
stations in strategic locations around the world. KVH also manufactures
the hardware solution for the vessel, offering a simple, streamlined,
end-to-end design that includes the onboard equipment, the mini-VSAT
Broadband service, and KVH's global technical support network.
In addition to being the world's fastest growing maritime VSAT network
with over 1,500 units fielded, mini-VSAT Broadband also delivers:
-- More than 100 terabytes of data per year
-- More than 1.5 million phone calls per year
-- Average network uptime better than 99.5%
-- Regulatory authority to operate offshore and in-port in more than 125
countries around the globe
A managed airtime network solution, mini-VSAT Broadband equips vessels
with the highest data rates available today with downloads as fast as 2
Mbps and uploads as fast as 1 Mbps, as well as Voice over IP (VoIP)
telephone lines with optimized service and prioritization of
applications. The network uses ViaSat ArcLight spread spectrum
technology, a reliable and efficient solution proven in both commercial
and military applications. In addition to the 1,000 megabyte, $999 per
month M1000 airtime plan mentioned above, KVH offers simple metered
plans ($0.99 per MB for data and $0.49 per minute for voice services,
with packages starting as low as $49 per month) as well as fixed
monthly and seasonal plans with even lower data and voice costs. These
benefits are available to mariners on any size vessel, for numerous
applications, and even in adverse weather conditions via the
award-winning 24-inch TracPhoneV7 and compact, 14.5-inch TracPhone V3
antennas.
