2011-06-30

Kale Consultants Ltd., a solutions provider to the Airline and Travel industry, announced that Kenya Airways has selected Kale’s Fare Management service as part of its commercial and pricing strategy process.

Kenya Airways is an existing customer for Kale’s Outsourced Passenger Revenue Accounting on REVERA and the new service further strengthens its relationship with Kale Consultants.

Kenya Airways is the flag carrier and the largest airline in Kenya. A member of the SkyTeam alliance, the airline was recently awarded Africa’s Business Airline of the Year.

In order to remain competitive and maintain market share, fast, accurate and cost effective filing of fares has become the priority for airlines. Kale’s Fare Management service caters to this specific need of the airline industry. This service will help handle the various processes right from the fare collection to review, quality checks, reminders for expired fares and MIS to give a first-hand view of usage of fares floated in the market. The implementation of this service will enable Kenya Airways to adapt to the dynamic market conditions.

Dr. Titus Naikuni, CEO and Group Managing Director Kenya Airways, said, "Kenya Airways is on the growth path and the use of the effective services from experts in the field is of utmost importance in our endeavor to be the best. Fare management is a critical part of our operations and after examining various solutions available in the market, we found Kale Consultants’ Fare Management service as the best solution matching our requirements. We have been associated with Kale Consultants for a long time now and this solution will help us to concentrate on core activities."

Neela Bhattacherjee, Head - Airlines SBU, said, "We are delighted that Kenya Airways has chosen Kale’s Fare Management service for their fare filing operations. This new service further strengthens our existing relationship. With features like uploading of fare contracts into the system, creation and review of logs, test itineraries and detailed quality checks, the Fare Management service gives a definite edge to airlines."

Kale Consultants will be providing ATPCO fare filing services for Kenya Airways. This will involve creation of logs and reviewing these at every stage, new fare inserts and updates to existing fares, add-ons, rules, categories, footnotes, routings, fare class segments, RBDs as defined by ATPCO standards and GDS. Kale will also perform post-filing checks within 24 hours of filing in designated GDS by creating test itineraries and shall send across the test results to Kenya Airways by email.

Kale Consultants will further provide monthly reports, including fare utilization analysis using revenue accounting data to Kenya Airways. This will help Kenya Airways to take decisions on marketing certain fares aggressively while restructuring the fare products that are not used effectively.
