"Spider-Man: Total Mayhem" From Marvel Comics Available Now
for Low-Cost, High-Performance Tablets
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 9, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- INTERNATIONAL CES -- MIPS
Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:MIPS), a leading provider of
industry-standard processor architectures and cores for digital home,
networking and mobile applications, and Gameloft, a leading publisher
of digital and social games, announced they are working together to
optimize several of Gameloft's cutting-edge video games for new
MIPS-Based(TM) tablets. Games include Asphalt 6: Adrenaline,
Spider-Man: Total Mayhem and Let's Golf! 2.
The games will be optimized for Android(TM) tablets powered by Ingenic
Semiconductor's JZ4770 mobile applications processor, which leverages a
MIPS-Based XBurst(TM) CPU running at 1GHz. The tablets are currently
available for less than $100 from Ainol Electronics Co., Ltd. and will
ship in the United States and other geographies within the next several
months under additional brands. Spider-Man: Total Mayhem will be
embedded on the devices, and the other games will be available for
purchase from the Gameloft Store.
"We are pleased to see some of Gameloft's most popular games running so
well on these new MIPS-Based tablets. With their affordable price
point, the tablets have the potential to reach a broad range of
consumers who will now be able to experience our high-quality HD games.
We look forward to working with MIPS licensees to bring our games to a
variety of MIPS-Based platforms from tablets to DTVs and set-top
boxes," said Gonzague de Vallois, Senior Vice President Publishing,
Gameloft.
"The Gameloft games have stunning visuals, creating a compelling gaming
experience on the new MIPS-Based tablets. We are excited to work with
Ingenic and Gameloft to help bring the high-end gaming experience to
the mainstream--made possible through the performance efficiency of the
MIPS architecture and Ingenic's innovative processor design. This is
another step in building a high-quality and robust MIPS mobile
ecosystem," said Gideon Intrater, vice president of marketing, MIPS
Technologies.
