Meganet Launches Supermicro's SuperBlades, 1U & 2U Servers in India

2009-01-20

Mega Networks Pvt. Ltd. (Meganet) has launched Supermicro Computer Inc.'s earth-friendly servers, including its greenest blade solutions. In addition to four different SuperBlade systems, Supermicro has also introduced its award-winning 1U Twin servers, 2.5-inch SAS/SATA and Universal I/O (UIO) solutions based on the Intel 5100 (San Clemente) and 5400 (Seaburg) chipsets.

Amrish Kumar, Director, Meganet, said, "The SuperBlade is easy to deploy, easy to use and offers the best price-to-performance and profit potential available, as the performance-per-watt (290 GFLOPS/kW), is 6% to 30% better than any other solution available in the world, and superior power efficiency (93%)."

Supermicro offers an extensive selection of application-optimized SuperBlade configurations. For instance, the quiet (50dB) OfficeBlade is ideal for office environments. The DatacenterBlade packs 14 highly energy-efficient blades into one 7U enclosure with leading performance-per-watt (290GFLOPS/kW), making it ideal for data center and HPC applications.

The company's enterprise-class SuperBlade features both dual and quad-processor blades for performance, scalability and flexibility. For maximum computational performance and density, SuperBlade supports up to 10 four-socket server blades (160 CPU cores) in one 7U enclosure. Supermicro also offers storage-optimized SuperBlade configurations with up to 10 two-socket server blades and 60 hot-plug SAS/SATA hard disk drives in a single 7U enclosure.

Supermicro's 1U Twin SuperServers feature two DP server nodes in a single chassis and a high-efficiency power supply (90%+). This 0.5U density (84 server nodes in a standard 42U rack) makes these platforms an excellent choice for high-performance computing (HPC) clusters, server farms and other data centers where space, cost, energy-efficiency and density are high priorities.

For enterprise and energy-conscious customers that recognize the cost-saving and performance advantages of migrating to 2.5" hard drives, Supermicro offers high-end 1U and 2U SuperServers optimized for 2.5" SAS hard disk drives. The high-density SuperServer 1025C-UR and SuperServer 1025W-UR both support eight hot-swappable 2.5" SAS hard disk drives and feature Supermicro's flexible UIO architecture to support up to three add-on cards in a standard 1U form factor.

With 16 hot-swap 2.5" SAS drive trays, Supermicro's 2U SuperServer 2025W-UR+ supports up to 128 GB FBD memory including 1.5V low-voltage memory.
