Tokyo, Oct 27, 2010 - ( JCN Newswire ) - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today its successful completion of Phase 1 field trial for Long Term Evolution (LTE), a next generation mobile communications technology, with a Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) Group associate, Globe Telecom Inc. (Headquarters: Mandaluyong City, Philippines; President and CEO: Ernest L. Cu), a leading telecommunications company in the Philippines. NEC will continue to provide extensive support for Phase 2 of the LTE field trial towards commercialization (commercial network).

The Phase 1 field trial verified a variety of LTE functions required for commercial service under field environment, such as quality of service, latency and hand-over within urban mobile environments in Makati and Quezon City. Furthermore, the trial achieved up to 60Mbps downlink data throughput rate at 10MHz bandwidth.
