Nokia has launched three feature-packed smartphones - the Nokia 700, Nokia 701 and Nokia 600, bringing the latest smartphone functionality and including ‘JUST TAP’ with Near Field Communication (NFC) on Symbian Belle.
To create a unique and engaging experience around the ‘Just Tap’ with NFC feature on the Symbian Belle devices, Nokia has tied up with Ra.One, a Red Chillies Entertainment production.
Ra.One will be the first movie in India to be marketed through a futuristic technology such as NFC. As a run up to the release of Ra.One, Nokia will launch a range of initiatives around the movie including giving consumers an opportunity to watch the movie one day ahead of its global release. Consumers can also access exclusive Ra.One content from Ovi store or by just visiting their nearest NPP and tapping their NFC enabled device with the Ra.One NFC tags.
D. Shivakumar, Managing Director, Nokia India, said, "The Indian smartphone market is growing at an exponential rate. Consumers today are looking for differentiators that go beyond multi-tasking and processor speed. With our latest range of smartphones on Symbian Belle, we are introducing a path-breaking technology in the form of ‘Just Tap’ with NFC. Today, our association with Ra.One brings alive an exciting set of experiences on NFC with Symbian Belle for our consumers."
Shahrukh Khan, actor and Brand Ambassador, Nokia India, said, "There is great synergy between Ra.One and Symbian Belle as they both represent technology of the next level. I am delighted that Ra.One will be the first movie in the country to be marketed through NFC. There are many path breaking initiatives that Nokia has undertaken with Ra.One that will allow the consumers to experience the world of Ra.One through ‘Just Tap’ with NFC feature on the Symbian Belle smartphones."
Nokia said its strategy is to provide NFC devices and experiences that allow the NFC ecosystem to evolve, and develop NFC services that add value to the consumer experience. Nokia is fully committed to driving the technology forward in India by creating an open ecosystem and fully interoperable environment between developers, software and service providers, and device manufacturers. With the launch of these products, Nokia now has four NFC-enabled smartphones in the market in addition to NFC enabled accessories.
While all three smartphones contain recognizable Nokia features, they each represent a very distinct set of priorities to allow users to choose what matters most in a smartphone. The most compact touch screen monoblock smartphone in the world (Nokia 700); a sleek and stylish smartphone with the world’s brightest mobile display for indoor or outdoor use (Nokia 701) and Nokia’s loudest entertainment smartphone (Nokia 600) all bring firsts to the Nokia product portfolio.
