ON Semiconductor Names M.K. Mak Regional VP-Sales for Korea, S. Asia

ON Semiconductor, a supplier of high performance, energy efficient, silicon solutions, has named M. K. Mak as regional vice president of Sales for Korea and South Asia, which spans Korea, Singapore, India, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Australia and New Zealand.

In his new role, Mak will focus on building and strengthening the team of sales and field applications professionals throughout the geography to leverage the company's sales achievements to the next level.

K.'s appointment is part of our continuous efforts to accelerate our success in key markets in Asia Pacific to optimize our business potentials, especially under the current challenging environment," said David Chow, ON Semiconductor vice president of Sales for Asia Pacific. "He brings a wealth of experience and customer knowledge to our strategies and sales efforts for our dynamic markets in Korea and South Asia."

The company said Mak has a proven track record of more than 17 years in the semiconductor industry. He joined ON Semiconductor in August, 1999, and has held various positions of increasing responsibility across different functions, from supply chain to strategic planning, and from IT business systems management to customer and product marketing.

Most recently he was vice president of worldwide marketing of Standard Products Group. He started his career at Motorola in 1991 before joining ON Semiconductor.

Mak serves as a board member of the Discrete Products Branch of China Semiconductor Industry Association. He is also a Chartered Marketer of the Chartered Institute of Marketing in the U.K., and a fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors.

Mak holds a bachelor degree of arts in quantitative analysis for business from the City University of Hong Kong, a bachelor of science degree with honors in electronics (with management) from the Open University of Hong Kong, a master's degree in marketing management and an MBA from Macquarie University, Australia, as well as a master of science degree (distinction) in corporate governance and directorship from the Hong Kong Baptist University.
