RCOM Names Shamik Das as Joint President and COO of Wireless Business

Reliance Communications Ltd. (RCOM) has named Shamik Das as the Joint President and Chief Operating Officer of RCOM’s Wireless Business.
As a key member in the leadership team, Shamik, who was earlier CEO of S Tel Pvt. Ltd., will also be a member of the Wireless Management Board.
The company said Shamik’s expertise in strategic planning and execution, operational management, collaboration and partnership, and supply chain will enable it to maximize its competitive advantage in the Indian telecom market.
Shamik has earlier worked in senior level positions in Airtel, where he was the CEO of Airtel South Regions, Group CFO and Chief Supply Chain for Airtel’s Mobile and Infotel Business.
In his new role as COO, Shamik will report to Syed Safawi, President Wireless Business.
Shamik is a Chartered Accountant and has over 24 years of rich experience in sectors like Telecom, Engineering, Global Media and Education.
Over the past few months, RCOM has increased its intellectual capital and managerial bandwidth. Rory Cole (Verizon), Gopi Gopinath (AT&T), Terry Coutinho (Vodafone) and Kaushik Pillalamarri (Verizon) have joined the company in the last 6 months.
