2011-11-03

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has launched the Galaxy Note in India. Developed based on extensive consumer research, Samsung said the Galaxy Note represents a unique product category and is one of its flagship launches in the second half of the year.

The Galaxy Note features a 5.3" HD Super AMOLED display. This high-resolution smart screen provides an immersive and best in class viewing experience while ensuring smartphone portability and on the go usability. Additionally, an advanced pen-input technology, called the Smart Pen, combines with the Galaxy Note’s full touch screen to introduce a unique user experience. Taking full advantage of the large display, Galaxy Note users will be able to multi-task, create and consume more, with fewer interruptions, while on the go.

The incorporated digital Smart Pen can be used for accurate sketching and artwork, while superior handwriting recognition allows ideas to be freely captured and shared with other devices without the need to perform any additional digitization; handwritten text is accurately converted into digital characters.

Ranjit Yadav, Country Head, Samsung Mobile and IT, said, "The Galaxy Note is a revolutionary product that seeks to open a new category in the mobile industry .While the Galaxy Note’s large screen provides a beautiful immersive viewing experience, the touch screen and advanced Smart Pen interface allows users to sketch, write, create and share more than ever before from one device. Based on its unique combination of connected and creative freedom, Samsung Galaxy Note redefines and enhances the mobile communication by offering a more advanced, productive and creative user experience than ever before."

Samsung has included the S Planner, a smart professional planning tool in the Galaxy Note that makes full use of the device’s large screen and advanced user-interface. The management planner integrates the phone’s To-Do tool and schedule application, allowing simple drag and drop functionality between the two apps; control and navigation is intuitive, helping users to comprehensively organize their busy lives.

Advanced touch-screen technology allows the device to be used for sketching and writing, using the incorporated Smart Pen. Superior handwriting recognition allows ideas to be freely captured and shared with other devices without the need to perform any additional digitization; handwritten text is accurately converted into digital characters. Beyond being used for writing and drawing, the Smart Pen can also be used to caption or personalize photos and precisely edit videos, making the Galaxy Note the perfect device to capture creativity.

Any screen content can be captured instantly, with users then able to annotate using the Smart Pen before sharing the image with anyone. The Smart Pen can also be used to easily crop the screen in any shape required. It can also be used to visualize and share thoughts during real-time conference calls, made using the device.

The Galaxy Note’s high-resolution display ensures that ebooks, PowerPoint presentations, news apps and Web pages can be viewed comfortably with minimal scrolling or zooming. Minimizing the need to switch between applications, The Galaxy Note’s HD super AMOLED screen is large enough to allow meaningful split-screen operation and true multi-tasking; the most frequently used native apps can be operated side-by-side, reducing interruptions. Additionally, the 5.3" display is the largest ever included in a primary mobile device; measuring 9.6 mm thick, Galaxy Note fits comfortably in a pocket to offer true portability.

Together with commercial availability of Galaxy Note, Samsung also announced the launch of ‘S Choice’, a new category menu under the Samsung Apps, with applications specially designed for Galaxy Note’s Smart Pen feature.

The Galaxy Note’s 1.4 GHz dual-core processor ensures the device is incredibly fast and a smooth user interface ensures seamless usability. Users can stream videos in real-time or engage with their friends through online gaming platforms, facilitated through Samsung’s Game Hub.

Samsung has also included ChatON, its new global mobile communication service, which works across all major smartphone and feature phone platforms. ChatON lets users interact with friends and family, regardless of device platform - functionality across multiple platforms lets all users join in, sharing text, images, hand-written notes and video instantly.

"The Galaxy Note is borne of Samsung’s insight and innovation. The company examined the fundamental elements of mobile culture, entertainment and communication to bring together the best experiences in a single, elegant device," added Yadav.

The Galaxy Note is priced at Rs. 34,990/-.
