Naik who was into Personal Computer ( PC) manufacturing in Mumbai ventured into Networking field by shifting his manufacturing base to Goa in 1993 and founded a success story which has witnessed two decades of continuous growth and success.

Smartlink has its distinction of being among the first Indian company to manufacture Networking products in India. Way back in the year 1993 when Goa was looked up as only a tourist destination, Smartlink Network laid its strong manufacturing foundation with the launch of its first SMT line and in the subsequent years it continued to strengthen its manufacturing and added six more SMT lines and became one of the largest IT manufacturing company's in India in the year 2001. Based on the strong customer support, in the same year the company got listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange.

Over the last two decades, Smartlink with its Manufacturing base in Goa and R&D in Bangalore, developed and manufactured Gigabyte Brand of motherboards and D-Link brand of active networking products and its own brand DIGILINK in passive range of networking products.

In the last 2 to 3 years significant changes took place, in which Smartlink gave away Gigabyte and D-Link brands and introduced its own brand DIGISOL in active networking products and the DIGILITE brand for motherboards. Smartlink also has its own indigenous service and support division under the brand DIGICARE which also provides service to other third party brands.

DIGILINK, its own passive range of networking products was consistently on the No 1 position for three years in India. An opportunity arose when global multinational giant Schneider Electric approached Smartlink to take the DIGILINK brand worldwide. Under the business transfer agreement, Smartlink agreed to transfer its DIGILINK brand of passive networking business to Schneider Electric.

Year 2012 is a year when Smartlink is all set to take DIGISOL to newer heights and become a leading networking player in India, by using its own two decades of experience in local R&D and Manufacturing. Smartlink will be launching a series of initiatives and program to celebrate its "Two Decades of Smart Success" which intends to touch both partner and customers. The year 2011 has also seen the birth of India's fastest growing motherboard range of products under the DIGILITE brand.
