GlobeNewswire
2010-10-28

The Company Will Implement Its Telvent SmartMobility(TM) Road
Suite Solution on King Abdullah Road in Riyadh

ROCKVILLE, Md., Oct. 27, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Telvent
(Nasdaq:TLVT), the leading real-time IT solutions and information
provider for a sustainable world, announced today that the company has
been awarded a contract by Saudi Oger Ltd, with the High Commission for
the Development of Arriyadh as the end customer, to implement the
Telvent SmartMobility(TM) Road Suite solution on King Abdullah Road in
Saudi Arabia. The city's new highway with a 6 km length and 4 tunnels,
will improve traffic flow while at the same time reinforcing driver
safety.

Thanks to this project, the citizens of Riyadh will enjoy improved
travel times within the city, as well as a reduction in delays and
standstills arising from traffic jams. The project is part of the
strategic plan for the city lead by the High Commission for the
Development of Arriyadh, which is contributing to a great and
successful development of Saudi Arabia Kingdom capital in all economic,
social, architectural and environmental aspects. Thanks to this
strategic plan, the High Commission pretends to assure Riyadh's
sustainable development for the upcoming 25 years.

Telvent will install its solution Telvent SmartMobility(TM) Road Suite,
which allows centralization of both tunnel infrastructure and traffic
management providing operators with a set of effective tools to
facilitate the process, while heightening safety and security at the
same time. The solution will enable traffic operators to control
traffic in real time and be prepared to respond quickly and effectively
to any emergency situation occurring within the infrastructure. This
will lead to a substantial improvement in incident response times and
more efficient management of maintenance plans, which, in turn, will
lead to a decrease in accident rates and an increase in users' safety.

Specifically, the following systems will be implemented and integrated:
fire detection control, closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance,
traffic data collection station, ramp metering, variable message
panels, lighting, ventilation, communications network, etc.

Ignacio Gonzalez, Telvent chief executive officer, explained that the
solution developed by the company, "Will assist local Riyadh
authorities in their commitment to optimizing urban mobility in the
interests of creating a safer and more pleasant environment for
citizens, thereby improving their quality of life."

Together with the recent contract award involving the implementation of
a light rail priority system in Oran, this project enables Telvent to
improve and consolidate its position in the market encompassing
Northern Africa and the Middle East as a leading technology provider of
smart transportation systems. The company has successfully completed a
variety of projects in the region of the Middle East and Northern
Africa, noteworthy among which are the traffic control centers for the
cities of Beirut and Rabat, as well as the recently awarded contract
for executing the light rail priority system in the city of Rabat.
