Telematics (JSE:MIX), a global leader in driver safety, vehicle
tracking and fleet management solutions, has today launched MiX
Rovi, a cost-effective and easy-to-use in-cab display for commercial
fleet operators. The device enables optimised communication and
information exchange between drivers and the office, while enabling
accurate routing via its turn-by-turn navigation system. MiX Rovi is
user-centric, featuring a compact, sleek design with a seven-inch colour
touch screen.
“When developing MiX Rovi, we started with our customers’ needs in mind,
so the product represents a solution that is fully customisable.
Operators can look forward to enhanced efficiency and improved customer
service,” says Charles Tasker, Managing Director of MiX Telematics
(International).
MiX Rovi enables fleet managers to create their own data inputs on the
back-end – inputs that are based on the unique workings of their
operation. A service fleet, for example, could set up data inputs like
‘arrival time’, ‘quantity of goods delivered’, and ‘quantities
returned’. The inputs, reflected as onscreen icons on the display,
facilitate prompt, real-time communication between drivers and fleet
managers, meaning that customers can make effective decisions and
respond immediately to issues that arise.
“We already have customers who are very keen on this new functionality,
some of whom we have worked with closely to get to the final result,”
says Tasker, adding, “Fleet managers experience a lot of frustration in
dealing with an overload of paperwork – often only able to collate their
data at the end of each day. They are always on the lookout for ways to
improve their turnaround times and enhance customer service.”
MiX Rovi is easy to install and works in conjunction with MiX
Telematics’ on-board computers, FM Communicator or FM Tracer. The
customised data inputs are configured in FM-Web, the company’s web-based
application that is accessible 24 hours a day. Along with accessing
operational fleet data as it is captured, fleet managers are able to
report on the custom inputs that have been captured by their drivers.
In the near future, MiX Rovi will include jobs and messaging
functionality as well as functionality that supports hours of service
compliance. The additional features will further promote the benefits of
enhanced efficiency and improved customer service.
