IT News Online Staff 2007-09-21
Epson India Pvt. Ltd. has launched the Epson Perfection V500 Photo scanner. This is Epson's first dedicated photo scanner to come equipped with the ReadyScan LED technology, a feature that facilitates fast scanning with zero warm up time and very low power consumption.
Designed primarily as a high quality photo scanner for amateur photographers, Epson said its Perfection V500 Photo is ideal for users looking to digitize their photo collection. Within the stylish profile, the scanner boasts high optical resolution of up to 6400 dpi (dots per inch) with a 48-bit color depth to guarantee accurate digital scans.
The Epson Perfection V500 Photo supports a wide variety of film formats. The scanner comes equipped with an easy-to-use film holder which gives users the flexibility of scanning 12 frames of standard 35 mm filmstrips, four frames of 35 mm mounted slides or 1 frame of medium format at one go.
Epson said DIGITAL ICE Technology, which digitally clears dust and scratch marks, will help ensure outstanding results that stand up to the scrutiny of even the most discerning photographers. To ensure that color reproduction is kept accurate and consistent across multiple devices, ICC Profile Embedding has been incorporated to the improved Epson Scan.
Aside from photography needs, the scanner can be outfitted with an optional 30-sheet (up to A4 size) capacity ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) to enhance productivity in an office environment. There is also a suite of useful software bundled for the office user in mind.
The High Compression PDF function in Epson Scan helps keep scanned documents at a minimal file size while ensuring text remains readable, while the ABBYY FineReader 6 Sprint Plus is a powerful Optical Character Recognition (OCR) tool that converts the image of a text document for easy editing with Microsoft Word or Excel.
Priced at 15,999/-, the Epson Perfection V500 Photo scanner is available from September, 2007.
