Mitel's AnyWare IaaS Service Delivers Flexible Cloud-Based
Unified Communications and Collaboration
LAS VEGAS, May 9, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today at Interop(R) 2012,
Mitel (Nasdaq:MITL), a leading provider of Unified Communications and
Collaboration (UCC) software solutions, introduced AnyWare
Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), a new approach for deploying
Unified Communications-as-a-Service (UCaaS). AnyWare IaaS extends
Mitel's Freedom Architecture to give IT organizations the option to
host Mitel's virtualized UCC software in a virtual private datacenter
provided by Mitel NetSolutions, the company's service provider
division.
"UCC is mission-critical for us, but we also don't want to use our
limited data center resources on it if we don't have to," said Jamie
Vandermeuse, director of Operations at M2 Logistics Inc. "We evaluated
other cloud-based UCC services, but they don't have the rich feature
set and flexibility we required. What we really needed was a way to
connect our offices and customers in a unique and meaningful way
without losing the options and features that a premise-based model
would offer. The Mitel AnyWare IaaS cloud based-service offers us all
this and more."
AnyWare IaaS is targeted at IT organizations looking to implement
virtualized voice, unified communications and collaboration, but
without the capital necessary to deploy these virtual applications in
their datacenter. AnyWare IaaS gives IT organizations the option of
deploying a private or hybrid cloud model that aims to streamline
operations and reduce overall infrastructure costs. This increased
flexibility enables IT departments to offload in-house resources and
focus on the strategic initiatives critical to their core business,
while still delivering world-class collaboration and communication
resources to their entire organization.
"Until now, companies interested in deploying real-time communication
technologies like voice or video had to invest in new infrastructure to
support the Quality of Service required for enterprise collaboration,"
said Jon Brinton, president of Mitel NetSolutions. "Mitel AnyWare IaaS
provides a sophisticated, SAS70-certified virtual Private Data Center
with the resources to support the deployment of Mitel's comprehensive
UC applications, including truly virtualized voice -- the same
functionality and integration as if IT purchased and deployed these
applications in their own data center -- but via a cloud delivery
model."
AnyWare IaaS is VMware ReadyÔ and can integrate with an
enterprise's existing virtualized infrastructure. It is optimized for
Mitel's purpose-built UCC applications and facilitates centralized
UCaaS deployments which can reduce the lifecycle support costs
associated with maintaining Enterprise communications infrastructure.
AnyWare IaaS will be demonstrated, along with Mitel's other virtualized
voice solutions both for datacenters and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
(VDI) deployments, at Mitel's booth #2142 at this year's Interop 2012
conference and tradeshow taking place in Las Vegas.
"VMware's partnership with Mitel continues to be an innovative one that
can enhance the agility and flexibility of IT organizations by
providing them with solutions to help accelerate their journey to the
cloud," said Parag Patel, vice president, Global Strategic Alliances,
VMware. "AnyWare IaaS can allow IT departments to focus on the
strategic initiatives critical to their core business, while reducing
infrastructure costs."
