Transcend Computing Announces Amazon Compatible PaaS Solution
GlobeNewswire
2012-06-11

Launches TopStack Web Edition, Enabling Developers to Deploy
Amazon-Compatible PaaS Solutions in Private Clouds

AUSTIN, Texas, June 11, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Transcend Computing,
an innovator in Amazon Compatible Environments (ACE) for public,
private and hybrid cloud computing, today announced that it is
releasing TopStack Web Edition, a set of platform services (PaaS) that
emulate the Amazon Web Services (AWS) APIs. Transcend Computing was
formed to help developers, enterprises and managed service providers to
capitalize on the momentum of AWS.

TopStack Web Edition provides a set of as-a-service offerings that are
interoperable with Amazon Web Services (AWS) PaaS and can be deployed
in your data center. This interoperability enables organizations to
more easily migrate applications between private and public clouds. The
offering includes:

-- TopStack Container Service - enables auto-scaling and recovery of
Java/PHP applications and is compatible with Amazon's Elastic
      Beanstalk.

-- TopStack Caching Service - provides an in-memory caching array to
increase performance and is compatible with Amazon's ElastiCache.

-- TopStack Relational Data Service - offers self-service provisioning of
databases and is compatible with Amazon's Relational Database
      Services.

-- TopStack Load Balancer -- distributes incoming application traffic
across servers and is compatible with Amazon's Elastic Load Balancer.

These services can be launched in the safety of an organizations' own
data center or can be deployed at a preferred outsourced hosting
location.

"We believe that Amazon Web Services has defined the de facto approach
to cloud computing, which will endure as the industry standard for
public, private and hybrid clouds," said Jeff Schneider, founder of
Transcend Computing. "Until now, organizations have only been able to
deliver AWS hybrid solutions up to the IaaS layer. TopStack Web Edition
extends the reach of the AWS PaaS platform to your preferred data
center or cloud provider."

Amazon Compatible Environments (ACE) are public and private cloud
platforms that embrace the Amazon APIs as the basis for application
portability. Uniform APIs ensure that applications can move seamlessly
across cloud platforms to enable true hybrid cloud use cases. This
helps enterprises to drive down costs, achieve greater agility, and it
enables a competitive ecosystem of cloud providers to deliver unique
value through differentiated features and service levels.

Use cases for TopStack Web Edition include:

-- Building PaaS based applications on private clouds and migrating to
      public clouds for production scale-out

-- Joining public and private clouds to create uniform hybrid clouds that
      share the workload

-- Avoiding 'cloud disasters' by making applications on PaaS available in
multiple vendor clouds (active/passive) for business continuity

Available today, TopStack Web Edition is available in both enterprise
and service provider licensing models.
